Plans to build a solar farm on farmland at Whittington have been given the support of West Norfolk Council planners.
Developers are seeking permission for a mixed use development, incorporating the solar farm and continuing agricultural use, on land north of Whittington Hill, Oxborough Lane, Whittington.
The scheme, which is set to include almost 19,000 solar panels, is due to be examined by members of the West Norfolk Council planning committee when it meets in Lynn next Monday.
But officials have recommended that the application, submitted by Whittington Hill Solar Limited, is approved.
Their report to the committee said: “The proposed development is capable of producing 5MW of clean renewable energy which would be directly exported to the national grid.
“Although there are no regional targets for the production of renewable energy, there is still strong support for renewable energy developments in the National Planning Policy Framework and in other non-planning documents.”
