On Saturday, cadets from 42F (King’s Lynn) Squadron ATC assisted RAFA branch members with the annual Wings Appeal street collection.

Shoppers in Lynn gave generously to the cadets who undertook the task, as always, politely and with a smile.

Many people were keen to tell anecdotes of their RAF service or of wartime service.

Mike Lister, of the squadron, said: “One woman, putting some change into the tin of a member of 42F Squadron’s civilian committee who was assisting with the collection, having apologised for donating what she described as ‘not much’ said ‘It’s in remembrance of my mother’s brother’ and as she turned to walk away added ‘They never did find him’.

Yes people do still ‘Give a little for those who gave so much.’
