I wish Peter Risebrow sincere good luck in his plan to reopen the rail link between Lynn and Peterborough, as this will be the third attempt to do so on the Wisbech to March section.

The Wisbech-March Bramley Line Group was formed by a Wisbech businessman Peter Downs back in 2004-5, and named the Bramley Line following the transportation of the apples back in the years before Beeching.

Monthly meetings were held and a good attendance at each, with roadshows attending different functions, raising awareness and gaining new members.

I joined soon after and later was elected as vice-chairman until Peter stood down, hoping a fresh face at the top would help reopen this section, and I did my best to ensure it happened, until I too had to stand down when my now late wife was sadly taken ill. But I remained a member, thus supporting the group. The next chairman, also a railwayman, stayed until he gained promotion and a move with his work, when it was then changed to the Bramley Line Trust, with so very little being done to reopen the line ever since.

Back when I was with the group, Steve Barclay never showed any interest in the line.

Since the trust took over, I have resigned from it and members’ meetings are no longer held, no track clearing being done, leaving most of the line grossly overgrown and will need a massive amount of cash and labour to get the line reopened.
