“O, Christmas Tree, O Christmas Tree How Lovely are Thy Branches ....” so goes the opening line of a well-known German Christmas Carol.

There were certainly some lovely decorated Christmas tree branches on show in the recent St Faith’s Church, Gaywood, Christmas Tree Festival.

On behalf of the clergy team and members of St Faith’s church, I am writing to say a sincere thanks to everyone who helped in numerous ways to make the Festival such a successful event.

The Festival was aimed at raising the public profile of the Gayton Road church and we feel this was achieved, judging by the numbers of visitors who came to look at the display of trees over its four-day duration.

We were particularly pleased at the success of our two concerts, a variety concert featuring the lovely soprano voice of Charlotte Rendall local musicians, singers and readers and a performance by the popular Castle Acre-based Big Heart and Soul Community Choir which was almost a sell-out.

The Festival, which saw pupils from local Primary schools, members of church groups and a few charity groups, use their creative and artistic skills to decorate 32 trees, had a lovely, warm family atmosphere as visitors told of their memories of time spent in St Faith’s Church over the years.

We look forward to welcoming you all to our next St Faith’s Church Tree Festival in December 2016.

Richard Parr,

Chair of St Faith’s Christmas Tree Festival
