I would like to thank the ambulance crew that came and attended to the very drunk man I found on Harding’s Pits on Saturday morning.
I had some reservations about calling emergency services, but the guy was completely incapacitated and a danger to himself. I am proud that I live in a country where this quality of service is available.
That said – I have some sympathy with the view of those that drunks should be fined when they “clog up” emergency services. I can see many problems with actually levying such a system – but it seems unfair that services and tax payers should be picking up the bill for such “self-inflicted” injuries. I hope the man in question at least showed some remorse or gratitude to hospital staff when he came round!
