There is a different brass band every Sunday.
Obviously some are better than others, though generally they all try to entertain the visitors and locals to a high standard. However I was a little disappointed the day it was the turn of March town band as the conductor made little or no attempt to acknowledge the audience. No introduction of what we were going to listen to, no loud speaker, hardly a backwards glance at the audience. It was as if we were at a private practice session. I know the musicians give up their Sundays for the enjoyment of the public but a concert is not simply playing a few tunes until it is time to go home. Compare this to Ely town or our own Hunstanton Concert band, where the bandmaster is more of a master of ceremonies and soon has the audience hand clapping and foot tapping. I do not consider myself a music critic, but I am able to recognise a good atmosphere at a concert
