I was pleased to see Gwendoline Farrow and Edward Wheatley reply to my letter concerning religious slaughter of animals in abattoirs

I did not know that our MP Henry Bellingham had strong views on this but he was powerless to prevent the statement from the Farm minister George Eustice stating that there are “no plans to curb the practice of slaughtering

animals that have not been stunned”

He went on to say that the Government recognises that the Jewish and Muslim communities have the right to

slaughter animals in accordance with their belief.

As Gwendoline writes, they should import their meat from countries where this hideous practice is acceptable.
