I despair of ever getting a Government ruling without unfairness, especially to the elderly and vulnerable.
First they allow corporations and the wealthy to pay a tenth of the tax I, as a pensioner, do. Now we have the latest modest increase in the state pension. Whilst I appreciate the boost, why do they treat a wife as a bit of furniture owned by the husband? My (male) pension has been increased by £3.35 per week. My wife’s pension has been increased by £2 per week. My wife is a similar age, living in the same dwelling, eating the same meals, in fact living an equal life as I. Surely the pension entitlements should be exactly the same? I suggest that the lower increase paid to my wife, is the deliberate result of gender discrimination.
