I find it strange that parents feel £1 .75 a day for a return ticket for their children to go to school is extortionate and not good value from Stagecoach. The company has to cover not only petrol but maintenance costs and depreciation costs on its vehicles and it has to make a profit as a business, after all.
If Sir Henry Bellingham feels so strongly, perhaps he could get the council to help fund the increase or he would prefer for them to go out of business and have no service at all. In terms of parents using their time and energy to drive their children to and from school, whether that will be cheaper in the long run is a choice they must make. Unfortunately life is full of them.
