Regarding the letter from Chris Smith, of Princess Drive, Hunstanton, in the Lynn News, September 6, I feel I must respond.
He appears to lay blame for much at the door of the town council thus showing that he does not attend council meetings or indeed read their minutes. At the last full council meeting they passed the following resolution: (Unanimous) Clerk to write to NCC, BCKLWN and Hopkins Homes advising of Hunstanton Town Council’s concerns regarding health, safety and practibility of using Harry’s Way and Anne’s Drive as the access for construction traffic to the Butterfields development site. The Town Council requests that an alternative access is used or that no development should take place on the site until access is available from the new roundabout on the A149.
Surely this is proof that town councillors are very in-tune with their parishioners. He says that residents are treated like mushrooms, well if you don’t read the council’s minutes or contact the council and stay away from council meetings, then perhaps being treated like a mushroom is what happens. The town council currently has a vacancy for a councillor, so instead of levelling unfair criticism, why doesn’t he step up and put himself forward for the council?
