What a sad response from Lloyd Diggins (Letters, February 21).

In the excellent “Thought for the Week” from Rev Laura Baker promoting solidarity, January 27, she stated: “We are marching because the most powerful man in the world says it’s OK to sexually assault women because he is rich and powerful and we say no way.”

As for Barack Obama, yes he was far from perfect, but history will show that he served two terms scandal free, a rare event for any US president. He left office with approval ratings of 60 per cent, Trump enters the White House with one of the lowest, 40 per cent, in US history.

Then we get the swipe at Jo Rust and her “merry band of protesters”, (misogyny creeping in again?). There are simply so many evils to protest about, it is not possible to cover every issue. I doubt that Mr Diggins and friends have ever got off their complacent backsides and protested about any sort of social or political injustice. Crispin Blunt asks in Parliament why did nobody demonstrate against the visit of the Chinese President. Some of us did, alas her Majesty shielded him from this as requested by the Cameron regime. Yes Lloyd, Cameron – remember him?
