The withdrawal of the planning application is the final nail in the coffin for the Willows incinerator.
However, it does let Mr Pickles off the hook as there will be no decision on the significance of the overwhelming referendum against this proposal amongst other things. The incinerator was a “done deal”, yet our community banded together to beat it.
With perseverance, our community can achieve similar successes over other issues.
The KLWIN campaign will continue to inform Norfolk’s adoption of the more acceptable alternatives. To this end, campaigners are visiting the upgraded Costessey Materials Recycling facility.
For my part, during the last five years, I have seen both the best and worst of local politics and learnt a great deal.
