Make no mistake, I deplore football hooliganism in any form, so I’m not seeking to excuse anyone.

But after England and Russia were threatened with expulsion, now it’s Croatia’s turn to face sanctions. Get rid of a few more countries like this, and the host nation won’t have any serious opposition left to overcome.

Mistrust the French? Moi?
