Until last week I have been delighted with your newspaper for the fairness of reporting.
But I must protest at the articles on, mainly, page 5 of the Lynn News (Friday, September 2). On the front page and page 5 there were banner headlines to the effect of a “Warning over £545 million ‘black hole’”. It is well known that the whole of the NHS nationwide is experiencing a huge potential deficit, I therefore submit that this really isn’t news just for Norfolk and that this is merely scaremongering for something over which Norfolk NHS has little or no control.
Again on page 5, we then find the report that “QEH dismisses danger claims”. They are having to refute a now non-existent claim regarding patient safety that had been all sorted last year – hardly breaking news is it?
I happen to volunteer at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital and I am very proud to be able to help support all my staff colleagues, both clinical and non-clinical.
I have nothing but respect for the hard-working clinical staff who work tirelessly to return us patients to good health with little thought for themselves in so doing.
