I’ve just returned to Lynn after three weeks away. In that time, parking on the Tuesday Market Place for three hours has increased from £2.10 to £2.50.
I saw the notices around the car park that said “Changes to parking charges”. Not surprised that the council was unwilling to use the word “increase”, especially when the increase is around 20%, or ten times the rate of inflation! Noticed that there are several more empty shops; not surprising, given that the council seems bent on dissuading visitors to Lynn. At the NCP park near Saturday Market Place there’s a minimum charge of £3.90. Sad to see a once bustling market town being systematically strangled due to the short-sightedness of its council.
