SLACK Alice and Apricot Lil were on one of their spend, spend, spend shopping expeditions in Lynn town centre at the weekend and reported back on stores resisting my Shut That Door campaign.
Last week's named-and-shamed offenders, Topshop Topman and HMV, were still contributing to global warming, literally, with heaters on and doors wide open.
Also sending money up in flames (well, in hot air) was The Body Shop.
Extra shame on them, given their supposed green credentials and long-proclaimed boasts of being environmentally aware.
Another store using energy recklessly was Bonmarché with its cavernous opening thrown wide to the elements and hot air flowing freely out while the chill wind blew easily in.
And Dorothy Perkins is similarly unconcerned about being seen to act in an environmentally mature fashion.
On the credit side Boots shone by example, showing, with all its doors firmly shut, that it is possible to trade, even at Christmas, without wasting money, energy, our finite resources and without contributing further to the planet's climate change crisis.
In the coming weeks Slack, Lil and other Purfleet readers have promised to remain vilgilant and report anyone continuing to not Shut That Door. Write to me at Purfleet, Lynn News, Limes House, Purfleet Street, King's Lynn, PE30 1HL, or email

- Occasionally you run across genuine, salt-of-the-earth types who restore your faith in human nature. Step up willing volunteers, Runcton Holme builder Jeremy Clarke, and Mr A. Mayes-ing and his pal, of A.M. House Clearance, of Bawsey, who, for no benefit to themselves, came to my rescue with some very (and I mean very) heavy lifting and shifting help at the weekend.
Thanks very much fellas.
