RACE ace Carl Breeze celebrated yet another podium in the fifth round of the SEAT Cupra Championship at Donington Park.
Qualifying on the Saturday saw Breeze line up second on the grid behind championship leader Robert Lawson ahead of Sunday's races.

A cracking start by Breeze saw him challenge Lawson around the outside into the first corner. As both cars exited the corner side by side Breeze was pushed wide by Lawson and had to settle for second.

The two of them quickly pulled a gap to the rest of the field and it remained the same to the chequered flag with Breeze collecting more valuable points.

Afterwards, Breeze said: "I'm making great starts this year and the grid layout is staggered so in that race I was giving away a car's length to the pole position driver as we lined up.

"With a longer run down to the first corner I would have got around the outside of him, but I just ran out of room."

The sixth round saw Breeze third on the grid, just missing pole by a mere 0.012 secs.

A rocket start by Breeze allowed him to move ahead of Andrew Herron into the first corner. But an aggressive move by Herron into the Goddards chicane on lap three saw Breeze lose second spot.

Breeze drove a blinder for the remainder of the race to reel in Herron, who at one stage held a two-second lead.

Going onto the last lap Breeze was now on Herron's tail and two corners from home he made his move, jinking to the inside exiting the back straight.

As the two cars ran side-by-side with Breeze on the inside line for the last chicane, it looked like he had second place in the bag.

It wasn't to be as Herron didn't want to lose the position and as Breeze turned in ahead into the chicane, Herron tagged his rear corner and sent him sideways.

Martin Byford eventually took second, with Herron in third and Breeze close behind in fourth.

Breeze was aggrieved to have been pushed out of the position and the stewards of the meeting have viewed the relevant television footage and will make a decision on the results in two weeks time when the SEAT Cupra Championship resumes at Thruxton.

Breeze said: "I made a great move on Herron two corners from the end and I was extremely fair with him, as I could have pushed him onto the grass on the exit but that's not the way to do it.

"He cost me second place but hopefully come the next meeting the stewards will dock him a position and at least give me third as a small consolation.

"Taking the positives we secured another good haul of points for the championship and another podium, and I can't wait for Thruxton, where I'm confident we can challenge for both race wins."

After 12 races in 2007 Breeze had scored a total of 99 points, but after six in 2008 he already has 92 points.
