Gaywood Park Bowls
Club Open Pairs

After a wet start the rain eased to allow a “spider” for a litre bottle of Bells Whisky, which was won by Peter Winter and donated back to the club.

Sixteen pairs turned out and were drawn into four blocks of four pairs giving e
ach pair three games of eight ends on a round robin basis.

The top two pairs from each block progressed to the quarter-finals played as a knockout over nine ends.

The winners then played the semi-finals with the winners playing over ten ends for first and second and the losers playing for third and fourth.

Throughout the day all games were played in a friendly, sociable and competitive spirit.

The eventual winners were Peter and Steve Winter, £100.

Runners-up Gary Thorne and Graham Farrow, £50, third Mel and Dean Bunkle, £20 and fourth Paul Leake and Steve Badrock, £10.

Thanks go to Stuart Sayer (Painter and Decorator) for sponsoring this event.

A barbecue and raffle raised a considerable amount for the small but friendly club.

Thanks to everyone who participated or helped to make the day a success.

The AGM of Gaywood Park Bowls Club will be held in the clubhouse on Thursday, October 9 at 7pm.

All members and prospective members are welcome to attend.
