HUNSTANTON Croquet Club hosted its first tournament of 2008, and some of the best players in the country were playing the advanced form of the game.
Last year's winner, Chris Patmore, was on very good form and retained his title by three points over Phillip Eardley.
Hunstanton club member Jeff Race only just missed out on the title. On losing his last game it meant he achieved third place, still to be congratulated in such a prestigious tournament.
- Jeff Race and his son Timothy (12) represented Hunstanton at a "golf croquet" indoor tournament at Soham in Cambridgeshire recently, in which they were only just edged out from victory after a play-off.
Smithdon High School pupil Timothy is probably the youngest player to play the indoor tournaments, and in his first season has already become a tournament winner at golf croquet doubles with his father.
- Hunstanton Croquet Club host a "Come and Try Day" with a friendly club member tomorrow at 2pm.
All abilities are welcome in this sociable game for all the family.
