JUST three weeks after his high-speed crash at Snetterton, West Norfolk racer Freddy Pett was off to race at Donington for round 11 of the Derby Phoenix Formula 400/250 championship.
Freddy took part still suffering with a damaged ankle and arm after his crash.

However he was determined to race and hold onto his second place in the 250 championship.

The meeting saw a record number of entrants, including 270 solo riders and a full grid of side cars.

With a grid of 40 riders, it was going to be a hard day's racing.

After a hard-fought eight laps of Donington Park, Freddy came home in a outstanding second place in F250.

However he didn't fare too well against the bigger 400's due to a string of back markers and crossed the line in eighth overall.

The second race of the day proved to be Freddy's most enjoyable of the year.

There was an eight-lap scrap for seventh in F400 between Freddy and four Kawasaki 400 riders.

After many positional changes Freddy came home in a creditable ninth and the top-speed of the 400's and problems with back markers meant that he couldn't finish any higher.

However, he was the second F250 home and once again the top novice, both resulting in a further two trophies.

These results allowed him to retain his championship position of second in F250 and fifth in F400.

Freddy is very pleased with his current string of results, considering he is in his first full season and is riding a standard bike against much quicker and more experience machinery and rider combinations.

The next round of the championship heads back to Lincolnshire for a two-day meeting at Cadwell Park on July 26/27.

Freddy would like to thank his dad and sponsors, Grip N Rip and C&A Superbikes for their continued support.
