This year's West Norfolk Inter Village Games, organised by the borough council, is to be supported by Veolia Environmental Services, the company responsible for household refuse collection throughout the borough.
The games take place on Sunday at Lynnsport with entries from the following villages.
Small villages: Walpole Highway, Harpley, Houghton and Little Massingham, Flitcham, Docking and Magdalen.
Medium villages: Clench-warton, North Wootton and Castle
Rising, Heacham, South Wootton, Bran-caster/Brancaster Staithe/Titchwell/Thornham, Walpole St Andrew/St Peter and West Winch.
There are 17 sporting events for the villages to choose from, including five-a-side football, mini-soccer, badminton, table tennis, athletics, netball and indoor bowls, all for adults and juniors too.
The spectacle of so many sporting events taking place together at one time prompted last year's Borough Mayor Councillor Kathy Mellish to call the event, "West Norfolk's very own Olympic games".
Councillor Elizabeth Nockolds, cabinet member for sport, art and open spaces, said: "Each year we are pleased to cater for those in rural areas of the borough.
"It's a great day of fun and competition and we anticipate around 600 participants from villages taking over the Lynnsport complex this Sunday.
"We see this event as a way of promoting access to facilities and clubs and to building up community spirit in villages too. Long may it continue."
The games have been running in West Norfolk since 1982 with Lynnsport as the venue since 1992.
Lynn and West Norfolk is now the only district in the east that offers such an event to villages.
This year's defending champions are Docking (small villages) and South Wootton (medium village).
Events at Lynnsport kick off at 10am and Borough Deputy Mayor Councillor Bill Daws will present trophies and medals to winning teams at approximately 2.15pm.
