Swardeston 124 for 9 wkts in 50 overs (Angus Stuart 6-0-42-0, A.Todd 12-5-24-1, A. Phangiso 13-5-15-3, G. Tulett 7-2-10-1, P. Barnard 12-3-28-4).
Downham Town 125 for 3 wkts in 29.2 overs (P.
Barnard 35, A. Arndt 37, A. Phangiso 38 not out).
DOWNHAM began with a trip to promoted Swardeston and included recently signed wicketkeeper Rob King and South African Pro Aaron Phangiso in their side.
Fielding first, Todd clean bowled Jessup in his second over to bring Zimbabwean Murphy to the crease.
Murphy played aggressively and with Foster took the score to 63 in the 14th over before Peter Barnard then swung the game Town's way.
He had Foster caught behind by King, Cooper caught at first slip by Dom Tulett and then M. Hogg smartly stumped by King.
Murphy was casually caught on the cover boundary by Andrew Arndt for 50.
Phangiso picked up three quick wickets and Greg Tulett another and only a last ball run out decision stopped Town from claiming all five bowling points.
Phangiso and Tulett bowled 20 overs between them for just 25 runs.
The in-form Alex Stuart went early to bring Arndt to the crease.
After a cautious start, he and Barnard rattled the score along to 80 before Barnard was bowled by Murphy for a well made 35 to bring the eager Phangiso to the crease.
Arndt was next to go with the score on 83 for a hard hit 37, leaving Phangiso and Dom Tulett to knock off the remaining 40 required in quick time.
