TODAY (Wednesday) the Lynn Money Centre Stars go head-to-head with the current Premier League leaders, the Somerset Rebels.
The Stars can not afford any slip ups as they try to retain their 100 per cent undefeated home league record.

It is not going to be easy with the Rebels having won 12 of their 13 league meetings so far.

Somerset have had an amazing season to date, with their team increasing their averages from under the 41.5 point limit to 49.82 compared to Lynn's 46.11.

Team boss Rob Lyon is wary of the task ahead.

He said: "As the averages show, the Rebels have out-performed us so far this season, they are a solid team just like ourselves and this meeting is definitely a clash of the titans.

"I believe we have what it takes, but every member of the team is going to have to dig deep and perform to the best of their ability.

"If one of them doesn't do that then we could be in serious trouble."

Somerset have former Elite League star Jason Doyle riding at number 1 with former Lynn rider Emil Kramer in the other heat leader position.

They will be operating rider replacement at number 4 for the injured Simon Walker which means that Stephan Katt, Jordan Frampton, Brent Werner and Matthias Kroger are all entitled to take one of his rides.

The Stars will be hoping for some luck on and off the track after three of their scheduled meetings were washed out last week.

Co-promoter Jonathan Chapman explains his disappointment: "'I'm sure the rest of the country is saying the same thing, where is the British summer?

"The problem is that if the majority of the team miss a week's racing they risk losing their sharpness and match fitness.

"I just hope the Rebels don't catch us on the hop."

The rained-off meeting away at Scunthorpe last Friday has already been re-arranged for this coming Friday and the following night the Stars are racing away at Stoke.

With a possible eight points up for grabs over the following week, this could be the point where the Stars go to the top of the league table.

Stars team: 1 Kevin Doolan 9.94, 2 Shaun Tacey 6.75, 3 Tomas Topinka 9.14, 4 Simon Lambert 5.24, 5 Rusty Harrison 6.25, 6 John Oliver 4.48, 7 Kozza Smith 4.31. Total 46.11.

Somerset: 1 Jason Doyle 9.59, 2 Stephan Katt 6.40, 3 Emil Kramer 9.22, 4 Simon Walker R/R 6.69, 5 Jordan Frampton 6.78, 6 Brent Werner 5.75, 7 Matthias Kroger 5.39. Total 49.82.
