MARK Spinks, from Walpole Highway, struck gold at the disabled table tennis Sheffield Grand Prix.
He won his event, which is part of the British Championships.

Spinks, who has cerebral palsy, explained: "I played with the other disabilities, not with those with learning difficulties, which made it much more difficult.

"I decided to do that because I wanted to play with better players. I want to get to the next level, so I played in that category."

He earned 100 ranking points with this win in the first competition of the year.

Spinks, a Lynn News sportsman of the year, next competes at Stoke Mandeville (Buckinghamshire) in July and Crewe in October.
