ANGLING Extra: Fly Fishing: The weather has had a tremendous affect on fishing, the thundery weather sending the trout down in the water and off the feed.
The cooler and wet weather should cool down the water and bring the trout back on the feed again soon.

Narborough Trout Lakes (01760 338005): Up and down with the weather.

When the fish have been near the surface small black gnats, hoppers and daddies have been firm favourites.

Thundery days have seen the fish head for the deeper water, turning them lethargic with very little tempting them.

Blackdyke Trout Fishery (07836 701392): Fish are particularly active, chasing hatching nymphs and buzzers on the surface.

The water, at times, seems to have come alive with trout breaking the surface. Flies, nymphs, buzzers and hares ear must be favourites for the coming week.

Coarse fishing

Narborough Coarse Lake (01760 338005): Not as prolific but still steady.

Two separate anglers on weekend sessions took eight fish while the other took six respectively.

The best fish was 22lb, with all the rest in the mid-to up-teens.

Several ghost carp have been taken over the past week up to 10lbs.

Good-size tench have also been taken up to 7lbs.

Best baits have been sweetcorn, fish-based baits and worms.

Pocohontas (07876 151247): Five carp more than 20lbs have been taken in the past week. The biggest was 25lb by Andy, who used a single green lip mussel boilies fishing in front of the boat house.

He took six fish on the single green lip mussel bait.

Nearly all the other fish taken were in the high teens and most of them were taken on floating baits, such as dog biscuits and bread.

Bridge Farm (01328 701699): Sweetcorn has out-fished any other bait over the past week. Paste fished down the margins has worked well until the smaller fish have moved in.

The sweetcorn pellet has also taken fish fished, either up in the water or hard on the bottom.

Tuesday results: 1 Neil Paskey 78.25lbs, 2 Jimmy Young 54lbs 7ozs, 3 John Lansky 41.5lbs and 4 Kelvin Fairy 32lbs 6ozs.

Thursday results: 1 Dave Watson 41lbs 14ozs, 2 John Lansky 39lbs 15ozs, 3 Neil Paskey 35lbs 7ozs, 4 Steve Brown 29lbs.
