Sport - Angling: Snow causes havoc for weekend anglers

CONDITIONS did not favour the anglers as the temperatures dramatically dropped.
Early in the week catch rates were down as anglers stayed away from the banks, as the cold north-easterly winds arrived.
Only a few anglers did manage to venture out, but rewards were very minimal, only the odd roach shone during the hardest week of the year so far on Ten Mile Bank.

Ice began freezing on the margins and lines became frozen as the temperatures started to drop off quite quickly.
Even the hardened predator anglers were struggling to find any of their target fish, the odd jack did show in earlier sessions.
Middle Level also became a predator angler’s nightmare as the conditions hampered the catches. The snow on Sunday put paid to any anglers finding their way onto the banks.
Last week on the Level the Westoby brothers Gary and Richard found the pike.
Shepherds Port became virtually frozen over towards the later stages of the week and no reports have been received of any catches.
Hopefully this weekend all the anglers will be able to venture back to their chosen venues.
