Angling: Ash takes tench and carp at Cut-Off

KLAA: LYNN secretary Ash Brown endured a trip to the Cut-Off Channel after spotting some fish topping.

Brown decided to fish pinkie, while using a six-metre whip, looking for the small fish.

He unexpectedly hooked into a tench at 5lb 12oz and also bagged a 10lb 4oz carp later during the session, although three tench did manage to escape his eager clutches.

Ten Mile Bank: Quite patchy during the week but catches did improve at the weekend.

Roach and skimmers were the bulk of the fish caught, with the odd perch included.

Apologies go to all KLAA anglers for the recent information on the River Wissey, this was a error and it should have been the Little Ouse.

Ten Mile Bank: Only a few anglers about this week, mainly predator anglers, and no reports have been received.

Little Ouse: After a few positive weeks at this favoured winter venue, sadly catches were hard to come by in the last week.

Early indications were quite encouraging, but the fish have moved away from the bridge back towards the Great Ouse as the water temperatures rose during a mild week and weekend.

Junior news

The juniors were in action last weekend in the third round of the East Coast Winter League at Holbeach, with the Little Holland, at Sharp's Bridge, the venue.

The Lynn teams were familiar with this water and this proved beneficial on the day.

Lynn and Holbeach juniors struck first and second on the team fronts and also scooped a one-two individually, the juniors managing five placings out of a possible seven.

Toby Pepper won on the day, fishing 9-11 metres on the pole with 11lb 8oz, followed by Kirsty Reed with 10lb 10oz.

This was backed up by section wins for Damien Evans, Gary Harris, and Brendan Strowlger.

The juniors thank sponsors Foster Refrigerator for supplying the team with new polo and sweatshirts and for their continuous support.
