TWELVE schools took part in this year’s Primary Sportshall Athletics competition.

As a school games event there was a large schools division and a small schools division.

In the morning the large schools of Watlington, West Winch, Necton, South Wootton, Clackclose and Swaffham Junior competed in track and field events with all competitors accumulating scores for their team. At the end of the morning South Wootton were crowned champions with Swaffham Junior coming a close second.

In the afternoon it was the turn of the small schools, these being: Castle Acre, Sporle, Narborough, Tilney All Saints, Gayton and Glebe House. By the close of the afternoon Glebe House were crowned champions with Castle Acre second.

Both South Wootton and Glebe House will now represent West Norfolk at the school games county final in June.

Many thanks go to West Norfolk Athletics Club members who gave up their time to advise and officiate throughout the day. John Greenhalgh, Tim Brookes, Wally Oliver and Sally and Paul Edwards provided invaluable support and ensured that all events ran smoothly.

Special thanks also go to staff and students from the College of West Anglia who ran the field event stations, again providing support and encouragement for all those taking part.

All results and action photos can be seen on the SSP Website – www.westnorfolkssp.co.uk
