West Norfolk Athletics Club Event

West Norfolk Athletic Club held their annual Keith Ward Memorial Meeting, incorporating the Norfolk AAA County Championships, at Lynnsport.

More than 130 athletes, both from Norfolk and other counties across the east of England, took part with some excellent performances coming from WNAC members.

In the under 13 girls, Lucy Koenigsberger was first overall in both championships with a putt of 5m 79.

Abigail Rice had a busier day in the 60m hurdles (13.3secs), and in the 60m sprint (9.1 seconds) to finish second in both competitions.

Lucy Edwards, Hannah Greehalgh, Zara Koenigsberger and Amy Thorpe represented the under 15 girls.

Koenigsberger was fifth overall and third in the county in the high jump (1m1)5, before throwing 4m 80 in the shot.

Edwards (8.6secs), Thorpe (9.3secs) and Greenhalgh (9.6secs) ran in the heats of the 60 metre sprint, with Edwards progressing to the final to finish third and second (8.7secs).

Thorpe and Greenhalgh also competed in 60m and both reached the final with the former (11.5secs) was sixth overall and third in the county and Emma Dewdney (10.6secs) for fourth overall and first in the county

Edwards (4m 69) and Dewdney (4m 05) competed in the long jump and came first and third respectively in both competitions.

Dewdney and Greenhalgh took part in the shot and putt competitions, with 5m 69 and 4m 19 respectively.

Only three under boys took part with David Vincent (8.9secs) fourth overall and third in the county in the 60m sprint.

Ryan Coates was second in the county high jump with 1m 40 and third in the long jump (3m 86). He also took part in the 60m sprint event (9.0 seconds).

James Rushmore (6m 84) was second in both the shot competitions.

Under 17 girl Laura Davis (8.8secs) was fourth 60m sprint before jumping 4m 55 in long jump for second spot and first in the county.

Under 17 man Jordan Harry 60m sprint (7.8secs) heats and 5m 78 long jump for second overall.

Under 20 lady Rebecca Vincent was third in the county for the 60m sprint (8.8secs).

New member Tayla Benson was second overall in the 60m sprint (8.3secs).

The club welcome her and her brother Rahim.

The under 20 men were represented by Matthew Bailey, Ryan Gowler and Craig Brooks.

Bailey was second overall and first in the county in the 60m sprint and first in the county for the 60m hurdles, Gowler was third and second in the 60m sprint (7.5secs) before following it up with third and second in the long jump (5m 43).

Brooks (7.8secs) was fourth and third in the 60m sprint and first in both the long jump events (5m 58).

Senior man Jack Pishorn was second and first in the 60m sprint (8.7secs), fifth and third in both the long jump (4m 37).

Luke Foster (1m 80) was second in both high jump events and veteran Robert Vincent third and second in the 60m sprints (8.5secs).

Trophies were presented by the borough mayor and mayoress Geoffrey and Mary Wareham and councillor Elizabeth Nockolds. The club thank all of the officials
