Barracudas celebrate new sponsorship in fine style

Lynn Barracudas 55

Scunthorpe 38

SO far so good for the Barracudas, who celebrated a new team sponsorship by taking all three points from their opening National League fixture of the campaign on Saturday.

The backing has come from Neil and Angela Watson, of Peterborough-based Art and Stitch, who must be pleased the side has come through unbeaten in three matches.

This latest fixture, between two teams with a fair sprinkling of youth and inexperience, went Lynn's way because the top end power of their heat leaders was always too much for the patched-up Scunthorpe outfit.

Adam Allott, maximum man Jamie Smith and Darren Mallett matched Scunthorpe's total on their own, although their tussles with guest man Barrie Evans – Mildenhall's top rider – were always interesting.

Lynn are due to meet Scunthorpe in the KO Cup quarter-finals, possibly in June, and on this form could well be favourites to make further progress.

Lynn Barracudas: Adam Allott 12+2 (5 rides), Scott Campos 5+2 (4 rides), Adam Lowe 4 (4 rides), Jamie Smith 12 (4 rides), Darren Mallett 14 (5 rides), Rhys Naylor 5 (4 rides), Jake Knight 3+2 (4 rides).

Scunthorpe: Barrie Evans (guest) 16 (6 rides), Byron Bekker – rider-replacement, Richard Franklin 8 (6 rides), Jack Hirst 0 (3 rides), Ricky Scarboro 6+1 (5 rides), James Sarjeant 5+2 ()5 rides), Kyle Howarth 3 (5 rides).
