Breeze back on the podium in Scotland
LYNN race ace Carl Breeze returned to the podium in the latest rounds of the SEAT Cupra Championship, which took place last weekend at Knockhill, in Scotland.
Qualifying for race one saw Breeze line up seventh on the grid after a red flag caused by another driver meant that he had to abort his fastest lap.
With only three minutes of the session left, the organisers decided to not restart and this resulted in Carl not being able to improve.
The race was a different matter though and a great start saw him pass team-mate Jeremy Gumbley around the outside into the first corner to move sixth.
Lap after lap Breeze chased down fifth-placed driver David Green and although Green had clearly the faster car, he pressurised him into a mistake and expertly dived down the inside to take fifth, which he held to the chequered flag.
Breeze said: "We are struggling with the car at the moment and I had to really concentrate on each corner to make sure I could keep up with the driver in front.
"Eventually the pressure paid off and I was able to get past."
Breeze lined up fifth on the grid for the second race and with 22 laps around the tight and twisty track, it would be very difficult to overtake.
Another good start saw him consolidate his position and on the very first lap he managed to capitalise on two drivers ahead, running wide and going third by the time he crossed the start/finish line.
Again struggling with the pace of his car, Breeze drove fantastically well to hold off his team-mate Dan Welch who tried several times to pressurise him into a mistake.
After scoring some good points towards his championship total, Breeze said: "It was good to move forward in both races and we have definitely exceeded all expectations with our results today as unfortunately we didn't have a top six car in terms of outright speed."
Breeze is fourth in the championship, only eight points behind Martin Byford with two rounds left, Silverstone next weekend and Brands Hatch in September.
