The College of West Anglia sports department based at the CWA Sports Campus (Lynnsport) has been nominated for British Colleges Sport College of the Year for 2014
It recognises the work colleges have done to develop sport locally, regionally and nationally and the work with partners to promote sport.
After a tremendous 2012-13 year with the best academic results and sports performances, the CWA Sports Campus knew this was going to be a tough act to follow.
But academic performance is set to surpass lasts year’s results and 2013-14 has seen more students take part in sport and physical activity than ever before.
British Colleges Sport have put CWA Sport Campus on their final short list for the award for 2014. The winner will be announced at a dinner at St George’s Park later this month.
British Colleges Sport is a national organisation representing the sporting interests of students and Further Education Colleges across the UK.
The nomination follows on the back of the college achieving status as an England School of Basketball earlier this year and other national awards including the RFU President’s XV College of the Year in 2013 and the LTA College of the Year in 2012.
Programme Manager for Sport Tommy Goode said: “I’m really proud the college have been recognised for all the hard work it has done in developing sport. Staff and students at CWA Sports Campus can be really proud of the hard work they put in.”
