Canary camps for disabled kids
NORWICH City's Football in the Community Scheme have teamed up with Norfolk's Short Breaks Pathfinder project to run Disability Multi Sports Courses throughout the summer holidays.
Football in the Community have been running holiday courses in Norfolk since 1992, but this is the first time they have been able to run a series of Multi Sport Camps for children with disabilities.
FITC will be running a course at Downham High School, from Monday, August 10 to Friday August 14 for children from 5-16yrs old and will be looking to work with children with a whole range of physical and learning disabilities.
The camps are five-day courses and run from 10am-3pm, with the chance to play various sports such as football, cricket, hockey, tennis and basketball as well having the opportunity of a tour around Carrow Road, home of Norwich City Football Club.
The course will hope to provide much needed short breaks for parents throughout the summer period as well as improve the confidence, fitness and social activity for all the participants taking part, everybody on the course will receive a medal, course t-shirt, certificate and the chance to win trophies.
All the courses will be delivered by experienced and qualified coaches who work on a regular basis with children with disabilities in a sporting environment.
The cost of the course is 25 for the week. Application forms and more information can be obtained from the download section of the FITC website at www.fitc. org.uk, by calling the FITC office on 01603 761122 or by emailing fitc@ncfc-canaries.co.uk
