Chinn to fight Lynn's cause
FORMER Linnets director and majority shareholder Michael Chinn has vowed to fight the Conference and the Football Association until the bitter end following Lynn's shock demotion over ground grading matters.
Chinn is threatening both the FA and Conference with legal action and will sue if the Linnets' appeal falls on deaf ears.
He has requested barrister Adam Lewis and top London law firm Blackstone Chambers to act on Lynn's behalf following the Conference's decision to demote the Blue Square North club.
The Walks outfit lodged their appeal yesterday and Chinn, who still remains passionate about the club, said: "If the appeal is unsuccessful then I will take it further. I have the funds and means to do this.
"It's an absolutely crazy decision to demote the club and I don't see why the club should be bullied by the authorities like this.
"I haven't spent 180,000 over the last two years trying to build the club up and see my investment go down the pan.
"We feel double standards are taking place here and all I'm asking for is parity with any other football club," said Chinn.
"The Conference want us to have seven turnstiles but Histon only have two, as well as portable toilets, so how come they are allowed to get away with it?
"Look at clubs like Solihull and Droylsden in the Blue Square North. They are run by smashing people and this is nothing against them, but their grounds don't meet the criteria of the Conference.
"It's simple and I can see the Conference's view but you can't have one rule for one club and one rule for another."
Chinn added: "If you look at the Hampton and Richmond case then their council has given a guarantee any work would be undertaken, yet why is the same not good enough for Lynn and the borough council here?
"The money is in place and the work will be completed before the start of next season and the Conference have had written assurances about that.
"It's the same as going to someone who owes you money and saying you have 90 days before I make you bankrupt and turning around to someone else and saying you only have seven days.
"I bet you any money you like people want Hyde back in the league because Lynn is out on a limb."
Chinn is confident Lynn have a strong case after the decision by the Conference to expel the club for failing to undertake a 250,000 upgrade to the council-owned Walks Stadium.
Chinn, who still owns 40 per cent of the club's shares, hasn't ruled out a possible return to the club, saying: "There would have to be some changes before I'd even consider coming back so I'm keeping an open mind.
"I don't want the club being run like a Saturday afternoon out and people relying on Michael Chinn to keep throwing money in.
"The club needs like-minded people to take it forward and needs people to bring fresh ideas to the table.
"I don't want to hear people saying they will do this or that and then it doesn't get done.
"I really do feel that King's Lynn FC can go somewhere and by that I mean the Football League."
