Concern over state of council football pitches
THE current price of a council pitch is £48.75.
Any team playing on a council pitch still has to put up and take down their own nets and corner posts.
This isn't the case in other parts of the county.
More worrying though is the state of the actual pitches.
There are areas in the goalmouths that have no grass on them at all.
There are large bald patches near the goalposts and in the middle of the goals.
While this may be a common sight at the end of the season, it should not be the case at the beginning of the season.
The council pitches are in the same state as they finished last season.
These areas have not been re-seeded during the close season and this really is unacceptable.
A high price is paid for a pitch on a weekly basis and the least that can be expected is for the pitch to be a good condition to play on.
What are they going to be like at the end of the season if they already have bare patches?
The pitches over at West Lynn Sports & Social Club have been re-seeded at the club's own cost even though they are council pitches.
