Cricket: Amy, 11, selected for county debut
Amy Cubitt (11) has been selected to play cricket for Norfolk Ladies.
RISING West Norfolk cricket star Amy Cubitt has been selected to represent the county at under 13 level.
Amy, 11, who is playing two years above her age group, caught the eye of previous coach Peter Coote, and current mentor Tony Mowles, from Stow CC, who has played a big part in her success.
The King’s Lynn Academy pupil will have five more training sessions between now and April and will also take part in an indoor league, where her Norfolk girls side will compete against boy’s teams.
The first match in this league is at the Taverham Hall in Norwich on Friday, January 20.
Once the season begins, Cubitt will face the likes of Derbyshire, Nottinghamshire and Warwickshire for Norfolk, who have been moved up from minor counties to first class cricket next season.
Michael Cubitt, Amy’s father, said: “We are all very proud of her. She is improving her game with every session and we wish her the best of luck for the season ahead.”
Amy would like to say a big thank you to both sets of grandparents, DPC Cycles, Ray Barlow of the Setch MOT Centre and T J Cockroft for all of their support.
