The King’s Lynn Stebbings Car Superstore Young Stars ended their double-header on Friday with back-to-back victories over Cradley and Buxton.

Dale Allitt’s side edged out defending league champions Cradley 46-44 in the first meeting of the night. A poor start by the Young Stars was soon forgotten as they bounced back to take a two point lead after five races.

A run of three consecutive race advantages leading into the half way stage, with wins for Scott Campos and one for Ryan Kinsley opened up an 8 point lead.

Heats 13 and 15 went the way of the visiting Heathens who managed to close the gap to just two points with one race to go. The Young Stars managed to hold on to their lead in heat 15 with a shared heat.

King’s Lynn Young Stars: Josh Bailey 17, Scott Campos 9+2, Ryan Kinsley 7+1, Tom Stokes 5+1, Shane Hazelden 4+1, Layne Cupitt 3+1, Jake Knight 1.

Cradley Heathens: Matt Williamson 11, Dan Greenwood 9+2, Connor Mountain 8, Arron Mogridge 7+2, Ellis Perks 7, Luke Harris 2, Michael Neale r/r.

In the second of the two meetings, the Young Stars needed to overturn a 12 point deficit over Buxton Hitmen to make progress in the Knockout Cup, and they did so with a convincing 53-37 win. From early on the Young Stars took control of the meeting and opened up a six-point lead after four races.

Buxton momentarily closed the gap with a heat advantage in heat 5, but the home side moved 10 points clear at the half-way stage with a 5-1 from Campos and Josh Bailey.

For the first time in the tie, the Young Stars took the aggregate lead in heat 12 as Kinsley and Bailey raced to a 5-1 to open a 14 lead on the night and a 2 point lead overall.

A shared heat 13 was followed by a 5-1 in heat 14, as Shane Hazelden and Bailey secured the win on the night and the overall victory.
