FANS URGED TO SUPPORT TRUST
A SMALL group of Linnets fans have called an open meeting to vote on the establishment of a supporters' trust and also to offer their skills and expertise to the development of the organisation.
The meeting, at the Blue and Gold Club on Thursday, June 11 (7pm), will be led by a steering group of Linnets fans, who have been working on the idea with Supporters Direct – the national umbrella body for more than 150 of the organisations, whose number include Norwich City and both Cambridge City and Cambridge United.
Fans will have the opportunity to discuss the idea and ask questions before voting on whether to establish it.
The meeting will be attended by Supporters Direct, alongside representatives from other local supporters' trusts who will explain the role of trusts and what the organisations can achieve at their clubs.
Speaking about the meeting, spokesman Julian Gamble said: "With the current financial climate and the off-the-pitch situation that the club is in we feel that now is the time to unite the supporters within a strong organisation to help the club push forward.
"Our aim is to try and build a strong relationship with the football club and develop a constructive partnership so that supporters are recognised and have a voice in the future of the club.
"We would encourage anyone who wants the club to progress and to have an even stronger role in the local community to come along on June 11 because they are the people who make Lynn FC what it is and will be critical to the future of the organisation and its aims."
A supporters' trust is democratic, not for profit, and owned by its members.
Its aim is to provide fans with a vehicle to gain influence within the club through securing formal representation on the board of the club, ideally through the acquisition of shares and to bring the club and the local community closer together.
