Football: Swaffham complete Ipswich double
RIDGEONS LEAGUE PREMIER DIVISION Lynn Reserves 1 Felixstowe & Walton United 3
TWO early goals cost Lynn Reserves dearly on Saturday.
Tom Rix had already blocked one shot before the visitors took the lead through Hetherington.
Rix was again on hand to deny Hampson on 11 minutes but from the subsequent corner Hetherington headed home a second.
A quickly-taken free kick saw Lee Hyde head Lynn back into the game on 18 minutes but the two-goal margin was restored on 32 minutes when Rix could only help Barber's swerving free kick into the net.
The second half was a dull affair as Lynn failed to test the Seasiders' substitute keeper.
Felixstowe could have added to the score Hetherington shooting over after Rix had spilled a shot and Driver wasting a similar opportunity.
DIVISION ONE
Ipswich Wanderers 1
Swaffham Town 4
SWAFFHAM completed a league double over Ipswich Wanderers, bringing home another well deserved three points to Shoemakers Lane.
Still without David Greenwood (injured), Robbie Howling (broken leg), Stuart Seales (work committments) and Keith Polski (returning from injury and playing for the reserves) the Pedlars produced a fine performance on their travels.
Paul Shafer opened the account in the 9th minute, running onto an Ian Simmons through ball and slotting past the Ipswich keeper.
The hosts levelled in the 29th minute and solid defensive work by Stephen Thompson, Tom Rainford, Ben Russell and captain David Spalding ensured that the home side did not further benefit from the half.
Five minutes after the break Richard Cornwall scored from 12 yards following a goalmouth scramble before adding his second and Swaffham's third midway through the half.
Swaffham handed a debut to substitute Tim Kavanagh, who completed the scoring six minutes from time.
Fakenham Town, whose winless run continued with a 1-0 defeat at Team Bury on Saturday, travel to Kirkley tomorrow night in the League Cup.
l Downham travel to Saffron Walden tomorrow night in the Division One KO Cup.
On Saturday, Downham were denied a deserved share of the spoils by a late Gorleston winner at the Memorial Field.
Dale Twaite-Smith was on target for Downham.
