Table-topping Tilney’s clash had to be abandoned after 15 minutes when the visitors’ midfielder Ben Rutter suffered broken tibia and fibula in his right leg as a result of a tackle by Darren Browne.

The management and players of both sides wish a speedy recovery to Rutter who was taken to hospital after a 90-minute wait for an ambulance.

Rovers went ahead on 50 minutes when Lewis Curson crossed to Nathan Howard who scored his 11th goal of the season. Scott English scored at the back post. Kirkley were given a hotly-disputed penalty by assistant referee Vic Petri.

Rovers moved up to fourth in the Anglian Combination Premier table.

MKM MoM: Scott English. Rovers are without a game tomorrow but the Reserves host Earsham, 2pm KO.
