Fakenham Town Under 18 0 AFC Wimbledon U18 7
Fakenham Town Under 18’s bowed out of the FA Youth Cup on Tuesday night, following defeat to a professional AFC Wimbledon outfit at Clipbush Park.
It was the first time in history the Ghosts had reached the First Round of the competition and despite the scoreline Neil Jarvis’s side started brightly against the League Two outfit.
The first chance of the night fell to Dan Jarvis after nine minutes but Billy Bishop saved the striker’s low shot despite a clinical pass from Luke Gray in the build-up.
The Ghosts were left feeling frustrated just minutes later, after the referee waved away appeals for a penalty after Connor Walker’s shot deflected off the hand of Roles.
With 28 minutes played and after a spell of pressure from the hosts, Billy Frost opened the scoring after a long distance shot curled into the net following a quick Wimbledon move.
Two minutes later and Egli Kajar finished well after a pass from Daniel Agyei to double the lead. Then just a minute later, Agyei muscled his way through completing a frenetic period of three goals in just four minutes.
The Ghosts continued to hold their own against their higher-level opponents and with 57 minutes on the clock Agyei slotted home his second after a cross from Frost.
Ten minutes later Joshua Ano headed home from close-range, before Kaja bagged his second of the night just five minutes later to make it 0-6 with 16 minutes to play.
Kaja sealed his hat-trick in stoppage time and capped a successful day for Wimbledon as, despite a spirited Fakenham performance, the visitors’ class eventually showed through.
