Downham Town will be looking to claim the scalp of higher-league opposition when they make a belated return to the FA Vase tomorrow.

Town entertain United Counties Premier League outfit Huntingdon Town at the Memorial Field after a two-year absence in the competition. Downham’s last appearance in the Vase came back in 2012/13 with a 2-0 home reverse to Northampton Spencer in the Second Qualifying Round.

Assistant manager Lewy Thompson said: “We will give Huntingdon the respect they deserve with them being a Premier Division side, but we don’t fear anyone in the competition.

“We’re as good as anyone on our day and we played some really nice stuff against Dereham Town Reserves in our last league game.

“A win would be just reward for the board, committee and volunteers who helped get the work done at the ground.”

Other than Luke Fisher, Downham have a full squad to select from.

Tomorrow’s (in some fixture lists it is incorrectly down for Sunday) cup tie marks the start of three home matches in the space of a week for Town, who host March Town on Tuesday and Woodbridge the following weekend.

In Thurlow Nunn Division One, King’s Lynn Res travel to Woodbridge Town.

Fakenham Town lost 3-0 at home to Gorleston on Wednesday in the Thurlow Nunn League Premier Division and tomorrow go to Godmanchester Rovers. Swaffham Town are at home to Newmarket Town.

The Reserves lost 2-0 at Costessey Sports. Tomorrow they are at Long Stratton. The ‘A’ team are at Gressenhall.

The Under 18’s won at home to Easton & Otley College, Jack Prentice, Matthew Blackford and an own goal making the 3-1 tally.
