Fakenham Town continued their pre-season preparations when they played host to a Leicester City Development side on Wednesday night.
There were no big names in the Foxes outfit. but plenty of talent as the East Midlands side cruised to a 7-0 victory under the lights at Clipbush Park.
Danny Lowe opened the scoring for the visitors and Matthew Miles quickly doubled their lead before Harvey Barnes added a third.
Kario Mitchell bagged the Foxes’ fourth, before Michael Cain added a fifth and Lamine Kaba fired home to make it six without reply.
And the night ended how it started with Lowe bagging his second goal of the night, capping a fine 7-0 victory.
Despite the result Ghosts boss Wayne Anderson praised his side and welcomed the visit of a Norwich City XI this weekend.
“It was a great experience for the lads and a special night for the club,” said Anderson.
“We had a good crowd with lots of youngsters and their family coming through the gate and it was a really good night for the whole town.
“It was a great opportunity to test ourselves against a very talented young Leicester side and while the result is immaterial for us it was really important the lads got a good run out as we start to move towards getting everyone fit for the season opener against Hadleigh next weekend.
“The lads gave a really good account of themselves and it would be nice to see the supporters back at the ground getting behind the lads throughout the season.
“We have got another tough test this weekend when we face Norwich and if we can maintain the work rate and tempo of Wednesday night then that will put us in a really good place ahead of the new season.
“Overall I am really pleased with the way the lads have come back into training and it is important that we finish pre-season strongly and keep everyone fit and ready to hit the ground running when the league season kicks off.”
