FOOTBALL: Canaries conquer hard-working Linnets
Lynn 0 Norwich 1
A SECOND-HALF penalty from Mathew Ball saw a youthful Norwich team overcome an experienced Lynn side in the Norfolk Senior Cup.
A clumsy challenge from Jack Defty upended Ball in the box and the striker coolly slotted past Street from the spot for the only goal of the match.
Norwich controlled the majority of the game and had the best of the chances, with forward Reece Hall-Johnson spurning an open-goal opportunity with less than ten minutes on the clock.
Ball should have had his hat-trick with two late chances, but the forward failed to take advantage of his position with Street making a good stop from one of them.
Lynn huffed-and-puffed, but didn’t have the attacking quality to open up a solid Canaries defence.
Defty had a good chance with a header which went wide for Lynn’s best chance of the game.
Overall it was a fair result with Norwich progressing to the semi-finals after looking the more fitter and composed team.
