Fakenham Town have confirmed that midfielder Dion Frary has left the club to join Ryman Division One North side Dereham Town.
Frary, 17, is a product of the Ghosts’ youth system and made his first team debut in October 2013 as a 16-year-old substitute away to Diss Town in a League Cup tie.
He added two more cup outings in 2013/14 before earning a starting spot in the league for the first time on the opening day of the 2014/15 Thurlow Nunn Premier Division season, less than a month after turning 17, at home to defending champions Hadleigh United.
Dion made 28 Premier Division starts in 2014/15 and added a further five substitute appearances, scoring four goals, and he also made five appearances in cup competitions without scoring.
As well as playing for the senior team he was a regular for the Norfolk County FA’s under-18 side while also featuring for Fakenham’s under-18s, captaining them to the first round of the FA Youth Cup for the first time in the club’s history, where they took on AFC Wimbledon.
Before leaving Clipbush Park, Dion Frary capped an outstanding debut campaign by winning the vote as the supporters’ player of the year for 2014/15 at the club’s annual presentation night.
Frary, who only turned 17 in July 2014, was also named joint Under-18’s manager’s player of the season alongside Liam Youngs, with Youngs also being named the youth team’s most improved player.
Everyone at Fakenham thanks Fray for his hard work and commitment.
There was also one name on both of the first team prizes, with forward Sam Garner claiming the manager’s player of the year and players’ player of the year trophies.
Other award winners on the night included Ricky Claxton, who won reserve team manager’s player of the season, with reserve team player’s player of the season going to second string captain Joe Woodhouse.
The Ghosts will face Diss Town FC in a pre-season friendly on Thursday, July 9, (kick-off TBC) with the game being played at Easton College.
Fakenham will hold their AGM on Monday, June 22, starting at 7.30pm, in the clubhouse at Clipbush Park.
