King’s Lynn Town Reserves boss Jonathan Hawes sung the praises of teenage goalkeeper Joe Coleman after his side returned to winning ways at The Walks.

Coleman (17) kept his second successive Saturday clean sheet following the midweek home defeat to Team Bury.

Goals from Kieran Stannard – who bagged a stunning effort from 25 yards – and Jack Frohawk secured victory and moved King’s Lynn Town Reserves up to fifth in the table.

After the game, Hawes said: “You don’t get too many goalkeepers of Joe’s age playing football at this level.

“He’s done really well for us and he has deserved his chance in the side.

“He has shown a really good attitude travelling up and down the country with the first team for many weeks and has a good future ahead of him.”

James Dougal also made his full debut for the side, while Danny Setchell – son of first team manager Gary – came on for the final 30 minutes as Lynn continue their belief of using the young talent at their disposal.

Hawes said: “Our last few performances had been a bit flat, so it was important to turn in more of an upbeat display.

“When you are off your game, like we were against both Team Bury and Dereham, then you get punished at this level.

“That’s the difference at this level, but it has been a learning curve for the players.”

Hawes, whose side are next in action at Haverhill Borough on Tuesday week, confirmed that he has tabled a seven-day approach for a centre forward.
