Cyril Ballyn Cup Round One

Redgate Rangers 2

Sprowston Athletic 1

In a re-run of last season’s Norfolk Junior Cup semi-final, this was said to be the tie of the round.

Redgate played really well first half and went into a well deserved 2-0 lead thanks to Ashley Quantrill with two good finishes.

The Sprowston goalkeeper kept the score down with some fantastic saves late on in the half. In the second half Sprowston regrouped and sent more men forward, really pushing Redgate back. Some good saves from Dan Stockdale were vital. Sprowston got a goal with four minutes remaining from a corner and set up a nervy ending but Redgate held onto the win.

A great and well deserved win against a team from a higher division.
