Spirited Downham took hosts King’s Lynn Town Reserves to extra-time in the Norfolk Senior Cup on Tuesday night.

Nathan Daw gave Lynn a half-time lead but a mistake by Luke Pearson allowed Downham, who credited Zak Merrishaw with the goal, back into the game.

Pearson soon made amends for his mistake with an excellent save and the match went into an extra 30 minutes.

Jack Frohawk made it 2-1 with just a few minutes remaining.

Downham's Aaron McKenna shields the ball from Lynn's James Spittlehouse.

It was cruel on Downham who at least deserved to take the tie to penalties.

The young Linnets’ reward is a trip to Wroxham or Great Yarmouth Town.

Downham boss Thompson said: “It was an excellent performance from us, we defended really well.

“We went back to basics after our defeat on Saturday and everyone was really on it.
