This afternoon’s (Monday, March 28) Evo-Stik Southern Premier League between King’s Lynn Town and St Neots has been postponed due to a waterlogged pitch.

The club stated: “The club left it as long as they could to try and get the game to go ahead but have been defeated by the rain, and with more rain forecast this afternoon it was deemed necessary to postpone the fixture.”

Club official Mark Hearle made a brief statement: “An initial inspection took place at 9am this morning when the pitch was playable.

“After the inspection the weather then took a drastic turn for the worse for heavy rain falling for two hours.

“It was then deemed necessary to call another inspection for midday. However we were unable to obtain a local referee to inspect the pitch, so we had to wait for the arrival of the match official to make the final decision.

“Any fixture that needs postponing is up to a qualified official, not the decision of the football club.”
