Dorchester Town 2
King’s Lynn Town 0
King’s Lynn Town’s disappointing form on the road continued after two second half goals condemned them to defeat on the south coast.
The Linnets have now failed to score on their travels in five out of the 11 league games played.
The three victories they have achieved away from The Walks have been against teams currently occupying the 18th position and below.
Lynn had a couple of half opportunities in an uninspiring first period.
Sam Gaughran, unmarked and 10 yards out, saw his weak shot blocked by Matt Oldring having been put through by Jacek Zielonka.
Both sides felt they should have been awarded penalties.
Firstly, Lee Stevenson went down under a challenge from Chris Dillon and then the home side appealed after claims that Lee Smith handled in the box.
Half-time substitute Toby Hilliard breathed life into the game having been on just two minutes.
A Liam Hurst-Stevenson combination resulted in Hilliard firing an angled drive which Alan Walker-Harris did well to push away for a corner at the second attempt.
Liam Sayers tested Street on 53 minutes and then Gaughran nearly headed the ball into his own net.
Long-throw specialist Dillon then gave Sayers another goalscoring opportunity but he shot over with what was the Magpies’ best chance of the game at that point.
The deadlock was broken on 69 minutes when Bradley Tarbuck’s inch-perfect cross found the head of Jonah Ayunga to head home past Street.
The home side made sure of the points on 81 minutes when Dillon’s high cross into the six-yard box saw Nathan Walker beat Street to the ball to head home.
